Life in the Slow Lane: Sustainable Fashion

A very informative talk by Tamara Jones on problems of the fast fashion industry.
Few points:
  • clothing that we buy is designed to be lower quality because you’re not meant to keep them
  • greenwashing – it covers up the problem rather than addressing it
  • as of January 2017, the monthly minimum wage for a garment worker in Bangladesh has been increased to 140 $ –  estimated living wage 283 $
